MICA seeks to nurture a resilient nation with the resolve and confidence to overcome crises.
Singapore is our home for more reasons than we can put in words, many of them personal and emotional. But they all touch on some unique aspect of life in Singapore - our families, our friends, the food(!), and just because Singapore IS home. In the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, we sometimes take all these reasons for granted, forgetting that what we have today depends on our commitment to protect and defend what we have - a nation founded on the ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality, symbolised by the five stars on our national flag. Our resolve to uphold these values will determine how well we weather crises and secure our future as a united people.
MICA seeks to nurture,amongst Singaporeans, a deep passion for the country, and to inspire Singaporeans to explore, take pride in, and celebrate our identity. We do this through:
- Projects with youths that encourage them to express their identity and patriotism through various media, including drama, visual art and design;
- Partnerships with the People and Private sectors to promote our national symbols (e.g., flying of the flag during the National Day celebrations period).
We also seek to build connections with the Singaporean diaspora through outreach initiatives that foster emotional bonds to Singapore as home.
To nurture resilience, we monitor and build on public awareness of threats and Singaporeans’ preparedness for crises. We work with partner agencies to equip the public with information and skills, through public education exhibitions, publications, exercises and making resources available online on sites such as crisis.gov.sg.
