Mobile TV service
In 2000, Singapore Broadcasting Authority (SBA) worked with the Singapore Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) Forum and National Digital Television (DTV) Committee to successfully deploy DAB and DTV services in Singapore.
Two DTV licenses were awarded to MediaCorp to run mobile and terrestrial digital TV services. Singapore thus became the first country to implement commercial Mobile TV service. After the implementation, 1500 SBS Transit buses were fitted with DTV receivers. In December 2000, MediaCorp became the first terrestrial broadcaster in Asia to start DTV service when it launched its pilot DTV service, Digital 5.
As of 2010, MediaCorp will be discontinuing TV Mobile on SBS Transit buses.
