Schemes of Service
Officers may be appointed on the following schemes of service:

Information Officer
 
A career in the Singapore Government Information Service is rewarding and challenging, spanning a broad gamut of portfolios and responsibilities that are fundamental to good governance. As the government’s communications specialists, Information Officers have an important role to play in the entire value chain of governance from the formulation of policy, to its communication and delivery to the public, and the management of consequences arising from its implementation.
 
Information Officers will have the opportunity to be posted to a variety of information management work in various Divisions, and be deployed to Government Ministries and Statutory Boards to help in the communication of policies and programmes.
 
Young officers generally begin their careers in MICA where they receive formal professional and on-the-job training with rotations to divisions and affiliate attachments; or are deployed to serve in the corporate communications department in external government agencies. Experienced officers may be deployed to government agencies to assume directorial positions in the public affairs/ corporate communications departments or serve as Press Secretaries to Ministers. 

Entry Requirements

Entry into the Information Service is open to graduates of any discipline, preferably with a good university degree in communications or political science. Mid-career entrants should have at least five years of experience in public relations, media relations, broadcasting, marketing or journalism.
Applicant should possess the following attributes:
- Has a strong command of written and oral communications
- Is people-oriented, with the ability to cultivate networks and relationships
- Is politically astute and is able to see the ‘big picture’ when dealing with complex issues
- Has a keen interest in current affairs, politics, social issues and new media
- Enjoys taking creative approaches when solving problems
The starting salary will commensurate with qualifications and relevant/useful working experience.


Management Executive Officer
The Management Executive Officers are involved in a myriad of key functions, including policy formulation for arts and heritage, info-communications development, development and promotion of the creative industries, as well as driving organisational excellence initiatives.
Management Executive Officers will have the opportunity to be posted to a variety of portfolios such as policy, planning and corporate services work in various Divisions, or be deployed to MICA Statutory Boards to assist in the implementation of policies and programmes.
Entry Requirements
Entry into the Management Executive Officer Scheme is open to graduates of any discipline with a good university degree.
Applicant should possess the following attributes:

- Has good communication and written skills
- Has a keen interest in public administration as well as the subject matter, namely arts and heritage, infocomm and/or creative industries
The starting salary will commensurate with qualifications and relevant/useful working experience.



  
Language Executive Officer
Language Executive Officers provides translation services to support the Government’s public communications efforts. 
 
Entry Requirements

Entry into the Language Executive Officer Scheme is open to graduates with a good university degree,
preferably with relevant experience in translation or media work
The starting salary will commensurate with qualifications and relevant or useful work experience. 


Management Support Officer

Management Support Officers provide executive support to the management, which may involve implementing policies, performing basic supervisory duties and general administrative duties. Officers may also be assigned secretarial duties.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have GCE ‘N’/’O’/’A’ levels, Nitec or diploma with good interpersonal, planning and organisational skills.

The starting salary will commensurate with qualifications and relevant/useful working experience. 


  
Operations Support Officer

Operations Support Officers perform simple administrative and office work, including the operation and maintenance of basic office equipment and general cleanliness of workplace.

Entry Requirements

The starting salary will commensurate with qualifications (PSLE to Secondary School Education) and relevant working experience.
